High-Dose IV Vitamin C in Los Altos
DOCTOR-GUIDED IV VITAMIN C IN LOS ALTOS
High-Dose IV Vitamin C With Appropriate Screening
Pacific Naturopathic offers high-dose intravenous vitamin C in a clinical setting for appropriately selected patients. The route, dose, timing, and role of treatment are individualized by our naturopathic doctors and considered alongside your health history, laboratory information, kidney function, medications, and other medical care.
Our Los Altos clinic serves patients from Mountain View, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and the Peninsula. Pacific Naturopathic has served the region since 1993.
Why IV Vitamin C Is Different From Oral Vitamin C
Oral vitamin C is absorbed through the digestive tract and blood concentrations are limited by intestinal absorption and the body’s regulation of the nutrient. Intravenous administration bypasses digestion and can produce substantially higher blood levels. That pharmacologic difference is why high-dose IV vitamin C requires medical screening and should not be treated like an ordinary vitamin supplement.
Higher blood levels do not make IV vitamin C automatically appropriate. The clinical goal, dose, schedule, laboratory monitoring, kidney status, and other treatments all matter.
How Pacific Naturopathic Uses a Whole-Person Approach
Individual selection
A clinician reviews the reason for treatment, health history, medications, current therapies, and relevant laboratory information.
Safety testing
G6PD screening is important before high-dose IV vitamin C because deficiency can create a serious risk of hemolysis. Kidney function and other contraindications also require attention.
Coordinated care
When IV vitamin C is discussed in the context of cancer, it is adjunctive care—not a replacement for oncology treatment or a cancer cure.
Why Do Patients Ask About High-Dose IV Vitamin C?
Patients may ask about IV vitamin C as part of an individualized nutrient strategy, for general supportive care, or alongside conventional treatment for complex illness. The evidence, purpose, and appropriate protocol vary by condition. Pacific Naturopathic does not promise that IV vitamin C will treat or cure a disease, and no outcome is guaranteed.
For people navigating cancer, our doctors consider the full treatment context and the need for communication with the oncology team. Learn more about our adjunctive cancer support.
Screening and Contraindications
High-dose IV vitamin C is not appropriate for everyone. Screening may include G6PD status, kidney function, hydration and fluid balance, history of kidney stones or kidney disease, heart conditions, iron-overload disorders, medications, and current treatment. Tell the clinic about all prescriptions, supplements, allergies, pregnancy status, and medical diagnoses.
What Happens During Care?
- Clinical review: The team clarifies your goals and evaluates relevant risks and treatment context.
- Testing: Appropriate laboratory screening is reviewed before a high-dose protocol.
- Individual plan: Dose, schedule, infusion rate, and monitoring are selected for the patient.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is G6PD testing important?
People with G6PD deficiency may be at risk for hemolysis with high-dose IV vitamin C. A clinician determines what testing is required before treatment.
Is high-dose IV vitamin C a cancer cure?
No. Pacific Naturopathic does not present IV vitamin C as a stand-alone cancer treatment or cure. When used in cancer support, it is considered adjunctively and should be coordinated with conventional oncology care.
Can I receive IV vitamin C while taking medications?
Medication and treatment interactions must be reviewed individually. Bring a complete current list to the clinic.
How many treatments will I need?
There is no universal schedule. Frequency and duration depend on the clinical purpose, testing, response, tolerance, and wider treatment plan.
Who oversees care?
IV therapy is provided within Pacific Naturopathic’s doctor-guided practice, connected with Dr. Brian Cox, ND/NMD, and Dr. Krystal Shelmire, ND, as appropriate.
